Journalism Experience

Since graduating with honors from the University of Florida with a bachelor’s degree in journalism, award-winning writer Gwen Carden has been very active in the journalism arena. She has authored more than 3,000 articles, many of which were published internationally.

 

Gwen's experience includes the following types of stories:

In 2014 the book Oh My God, I'm Getting Older and So Is My Mom, ghostwritten by Gwen for Scott Greenberg, won two national awards: First Place in the Parenting/Family category for the Next Generation Indie Book Awards by the Independent Book Publishing Professionals Group, and Finalist in their Health/Wellness category.

 

Other awards include Silver Medal winner from the Florida Magazine Association for "The Stuart Story," published in Palm Beach Illustrated Magazine.

 

An article she wrote for Family Circle magazine on the mother of a deaf-blind child was included in a college writing course textbook: Cultures: Diversity in Reading and Writing by Emily Thiroux and in a course book used in the Academic English Program at San Jose University.

 

An article on listening skills, syndicated by the New York Times Syndicate, was included in the college textbook Business Communication.
